Question by Dean K: alcoholism, why do I keep drinking ?
I can go weeks if not months without drinking. Then I pick up, I have a good family, wife and kids but for some reason I relapse. I am tired of this. I am not upset or depressed about anything I just pick up. Anyone out there have a suggestion.
Thanks Dean

Well if you go months without a drink and than all of a sudden pick one up, you must have problems that you are not admitting.
What do you think? Answer below!

that’s what drink dose m8,,,i was a real heavy drinker my be an alcoholic,i knew at the end it was drink or my family,i picked my family, its a think you have to control, dont let the drink control you,,,its hard ,but it can be done, ive been dry for 3 years now,and i still want to drink.i can never, never drink again.but in the end you have to do it for your self…good luck with it i hope it all works out.
You will have to sit down and analyze what triggers your desire to drink. It might be intense stress, or it may be as simple as boredom. Whatever makes you first want to drink, you can come up with a plan to handle these things. Boredom, you can go exercise, read a book, go to an AA meeting, etc.
I also learned a good tip. Alcohol is processed by the body much like sugar. When you get a craving, eat candy or popsicles or drink some soda. The dentist might not be happy, but the liver will be!
The brain concentrates on a craving for only 15 minutes or so. Just do what you can to fight off the craving and the brain will go on to something else.
i think a lot of us have this problem.. i drink about 5 times a week… and even by 10 in the morning i think how good a drink would taste.. my mom and grandpa and his dad have all been horrible alcholics.. its one thing i always said i wouldnt be.. and now look at me.. i dont understand it either.
may god be with you
addictive personality. You’d be wiser to avoid alcohol altogether
Your not alone in this and there are so many people that are in the same situation that you are in.
I’m glad to hear that your not upset or depressed as so many people in your situation are but you might need a little help or more people to speak with.
I saw some answers here on Yahoo and people were checking out this site.
