Question by Elle: Do you think that the government’s campaign to stop teen drinking is working or even worth the money and time?
well, the question says it all really, I need other people’s opinion’s for help with my assignment in Social Care. It’s about teen binge drinking and I have been asked to gather opinions on the above question. Any opinion is great, but any sarcastic comments such as “why is it up to the government to stop drinking?” will be deleted, this needs to be taken seriously.
Thanks again Elle xx
It also has to be your OWN opinion please, or it’s not worth my time reading it, or your time writing it,
Thanks Elle xx
Like I said, stupid and innapropriate answers will be removed, TripSix, you are the definition of idiot if you think tha “No, I think the government should campaign to promote teen binge drinking and loaded firearms should be given to preteens.” is an appropriate answer to this question.

Teenagers can barley handle the responsibility of owning a car. Alcohol bears an even greater burden. It’s really up to families to protect their young from themselves. I’m not saying this about every single teenager, some really have their head on straight, but most of them don’t.

Any approach has to realize you can’t stop teens from drinking. It’s like trying to stop them from having sex it’s just not going to happen.
The problem is, for drinking there is not a strong alternative to teens ending up driving.
Call a cab? They’re expensive.
Get a friend to drive you? They’re probably just as wasted.
Crash wherever you’ve been drinking? They’re probably trying to kick you out before their parents get home.
Harsh penalties for liquor stores who sell to minors? They’ll get someone older to buy for them.
In general, no. It will be effective for a small minority of teen drinkers but i think that the majority do not take action or listen. I think that there should be a jail sentence for teens who drink. love mary.
Pehaps not an immediate jail sentence! They should maybe forced into community service, some that humiliates them. Teens hate to be humilated, pehaps it would serve as a deterent.
Yes, I do think it is working.
People (or perhaps the people I am with) seem to control their alcohol levels and are aware of the max. units one should drink a day … and they wouldn’t dream of drink-drinking and it rarely happens with young people that I know ….
So yeah compared to (for instance) 10 years ago, there is a definite improvement.
It is working about as well as the “war on drugs” is working.
Anything off limits is always going to be more tempting.
Is it worth our time and money? Yes,our children are always worth it.
I don’t know what the answer is to solve the problem.
The governments “campaign” to stop drugs has gone on for over 30 years, cost close to a trillion dollars, billions per year in prisons alone. billions to other countries, expecting them to actually use it for the intended purpose, killed thousands of innocent people, made drugs more readily available to school kids, gives drug cartels huge tax breaks, killed 5000 people at the boarder last year alone, gave the supreme court the power to enforce unconstitutional laws, and hasn’t done one bit of good on stopping the drug problem, maybe because it’s a medical problem, not a criminal one.
So, my answer would have to be, “oh hell no” it aint working, nothing the government does, works. Especially when they butt in where they have no business, they should be more concerned with the banksters, and binge robbing.
