Give two poor college kids and the knowledge that a 95-year ban has been lifted on a certain alcoholic beverage and … this is what happens. Prelude (0:00 – 0:16) – Julz and I try to figure out who’s going to make the first drink on camera. I get the honor since I bought the Lucid in the first place. Part 1 (0:16-3:42) – I demonstrate how to prepare a drink of Lucid “ghetto style” with aluminum foil instead of a specialized spoon. Everything else is just about right, though. The camera runs out of memory towards the end so you don’t get to see me finishing preparing my drink. Finally, yes you heard it right, I’ve never held a cube of sugar in my whole life. Part 2 (3:42 – 6:32) – With the flash memory emptied, Julz makes his own drink in front of the camera. His work is a lot cleaner and easier than mine thanks to the measuring cup we just realized we had all this time. We both felt stupid in retrospect. Very stupid. Epilogue (6:32 – 7:17) – We test our creations and … love it. Great drink for relaxing or while studying or something to take before tests. Really loosens you up. Note that at 7:03, Julz did not mean to say 60 proof. Lucid is actually 124 proof, so what Julz meant to say was that the drink was 60% alcohol by volume.

McGiver meets Absinthe!
“Absinthe is not a drink for morons”: So true! If you go overboard you will pay dearly!:)
When I was stationed in Egypt we got some Spanish Absinthe. One of my genius room mates chugged half a bottle, pissed his pants, and wound up in jail that night. Absinthe is definately not a drink for morons.
they have Lucid at the liquor shop by my house for 58 bucks.
using aluminum foil….probably the greatest thing i’ve ever seen…lmfao!
red dot on your arm (hehe). sure this was the first glass?
Bravo! “sip it” is right! You two are the perfect example of how someone new to absinthe SHOULD approach it (99% of newbs do not!). You researched ahead of time, didn’t light it on fire, take it in shots, act immature, or encourage people to guzzle it.
Great! I hope you enjoy many glasses!:)
Actually, flaming sugar cubes are a ‘modern’ method, meant to create an impressive display — the high alcohol content makes it work. They are using the ‘traditional’ method, which had nothing to do with fire.
you are, there just dumb=/
you guys are funny
Great personalities, very sweet and funny and clever. cheers
I thought you were supposed to pour more lucid on the sugar cube and light it on fire, the drop it in the bottom of cup and stir??
where do i start taking the sugar from? “gahaaaa” haha TERENCE BEEN A WHILE!!! still laughing the same…
fuck i gotta try some of the green fairy
You probably could have used a fork to strain your sugar cube, huh?
<—125 IQ and LUCID drinker…
My bottle of LUCID lists only ALC62% by Volume…
Well at least you didn’t burn the absinthe. Lucid btw is an average absinthe. If you ever want to try top of the line, you’ll have to import from Europe (stay away from Czech-made stuff). Duplais, Jade, Roquette are all great brands. The 3 legal US brands as of February 2008 are Lucid, Kubler 53, and St. Georges. More are coming…..
you’re old, ter.
