I’m in a mother-daughter relationship with one.
YESSSSS Im at my wits end right now as we speak and whats worse I think his son (my stepson) might be heading there too hes only eight and likes the taste of beer. What kid likes that stuff. I dont know what to do its causing a strain on the relationship I think I might leave him cause hes always drunk
My husband and I are dealing with this right now! We have stopped our daughter from going over to her paw-paw and nana’s.. its killing her and my mother in law.. but my father inlaw like the bottle more then he likes his grandchild… but my daughter is 8 and understands more then I thought she would.. He missed her birthday party last wknd b/c he was so drunk.. and it just stupid… but my husband is behind me 100% and thats a good thing.. but the best thing for me and my family is to not be around him until he can get some kind of help…
My parents, and yes its ok because i am not even close to being an alcoholic just seeing what it does to a family stopped me from touching alcohol.
Yes, but he’s well aware of the mistakes that his father made and while he has a quick tendancy to act like him, I bring him back to the ground and realize he doesn’t have to repeat the pattern.
You need a lot of understanding, empathy but also to take ownership for your own life and not blame what happened to you as a child in order to move on and live for the future.
Yes..quite a few times actually. Actually..my mother was an alcoholic, so was my ex’s father and come to think of it, so was my current partners father.
