Question by Eden2512: HELP-I have binge eating disorder and I can’t stop eating junk! I am out of control
?
If I didn’t excercise 5-6 days a week I’d be 500 pounds by now. I know it’s a psycological problem but can’t afford to get help. I have two young children and don’t want them to see me doing it. I need HELP!

You need psychological help. Some places will compromise finances with you. We don’t have much money either, but I still am getting help. Talk to your doctor, get connected with a therapist that can do some outpatient/intensive outpatient for you…
i’ve dealt with an ed too [not BED] so I know where you’re coming from.
but please, take care of yourself… and KUDOS to you for recognizing you have a problem.
What do you think? Answer below!

if you eat everything in moderation and exercise regularly (but not excessively as you) then its unlikey you will put weight on. People who binge eat tend to purge themselves afterwards, do you do this? if you do then you have got a problem and you should seek help. otherwise i would just advise you to take a look at what your eating and devise a healthy eating plan, that way you wont need to go to extremes with the exercise.
K, first of all I disagree with Pink, just because you’re not purging doesn’t mean you don’t suffer from an eating disorder…there are 3 types of eating disorders, binge eating just gets swept under the rug because of people who assume that we just have no control or have failed to plan good meals.
I suffer from the same thing as you, have done so all my life. I sympathize with your concern about your kids because it is a very real concern. I have a 17 year old daughter who recently revealed to me that she has been bulemic since she was 14. She has grown up surrounded by family with weight/eating problems, she didn’t have a chance of developing a “normal” body image or “normal” eating habits. I have since made attempts to get help for both of us, and have found a few free connections. Check into community programs in your area, ask your family doctor about group programs that may be available. If you can find nothing, check into Overeaters Anonymous. I haven’t been there yet, but it is definitely on my list of places to try.
We owe it to our kids to teach them healthy habits, if for no other reason than to save them the pain and embarrassment of dealing with an eating disorder. I wish you the best of luck and hope we can both get on the road to recovery even though we’re not rich.
I have the same problem lately, and I have tried CBT therapy, which hasen’t worked long term..
I think that when you get into a habit, it becomes very difficult to break, and the thing about food is that it is always there, you can always depend on it to be available, especially junk food..
There could be an area in your life with which you are deeply unhappy with.
Also being around childrens food can make you eat things which aren’t otherwise around, so I would advise you to throw away anything in your kitchen that you might have a problem eating too much of.
You must make sure that you have enough sleep, scientists have proven that sleep deprivation contributes to overeating.
I find that going to parties and dancing really helps..
If you are living in England, then you can be referred to a therapist for free.
If not then try to read a few books around the subject. or get online with a help forum.
In addition to this, the Macrobiotic diet is pretty good in that however much you eat, it is very difficult to put weight on, because of the low fat, and high fibre elements of the foods, plus the taste response mechanism in junk foods is eliminated so that it is very difficult to stop eating it, wheras with wholefoods they are exremely fulfilling.
Really good luck..
