Actually, if you had been paying attention – you would not have been fooled by this bogus claim.
Here is just one ‘for example’ fact for you: In the late 1990s the Taliban claimed to have banned opium production. This is not true. Instead what they really did was ban opium production in the areas the Pashtun tribe did not control, then taxed opium production in exchange for the monopoly.
I bet that you never bothered to do any real research into the matter – right?

The Afghanistan war is for the location, if the west has permenant bases there then it would be good to control China, India and Pakistan.
Also the lies about the Taliban was that the Taliban are the reason for opium production, that is rubbish. During the Taliban ruling of Afghanistan, the Taliban burnt many opium fields and executed drug farmers. That is answering the ‘Top contributor’ who has no brain and follows everything in the media.
I do agree though, that the Afghanistan war is costing too much and if we saved that money we could have put more money into collapsing businesses and into unemployed people.
The human cost is also devastating, we have lost over 260 troops there and have 1,469 severely injured.
All in a land, where the local Pashtuns, Uzbeks and Tajiks don’t want the British due to past wars with Britain. They trust the Americans more than the British.
