Question by chrisb199: I am wanting to start a small business, a club for teens and young adults. A non alcoholic environment.?
I have tried going the government grant way, but couldn’t find anything on that. So now I am interested in whatever I have to do to get the money for it. I am only 20 with no assets so I figure straight up bank loans are out of the question. Any experts out there who can help me? I have done some research, this business is needed where I live because teens have absolutely nothing to do here.

I understand where you are coming from, where are you residing? My husband and I are doing the same exact thing. They have a few teen clubs here but they are all the same, they have no originality in their scheme. The grants don’t specifically say for clubs, it is just a small business loan. However you need to get the word out by hosting parties or dances in hall’s or rented houses, so you can get the word out about your ‘production’. If you go the bank route and even with the government grants you need a business plan. You have to make sure that the music you play is slammin and it is all in the way you play the music (order). It seems really easy but it is a lot of hard work and networking that needs to be done. What about security? and you know you will need insurance liability? Will you be serving food? offering photo’s? How about door prizes and ladies free before? Do you have special themes you plan to do? How about showcasing local talent? You have to be creative to the point where people know of your business in the next city or county. You will need to come out of pocket to get the ball rolling, so I suggest you get with some friends or family and get it done. We host house parties and rent dance halls for about k for the weekend and our return is over k now we have to pay the vendors like security, DJ’s and of course the taxes to Uncle Sam… But keep in mind you have to give something to get it. Try hosting competitions with the women on prettiest legs, best outfit, dance competitions and even mini talent shows. If it is a success you will find that some businesses will want to get in on the deal for a percentage. I have another option, do you think familly members will want to purchase a builing like a warehouse or storage that sits alone? I hope this helps.

Good luck and GOD BLESS
