Question by Yard: If the drinking age gets raised to 25 or 30, would that stop kids from drinking alcohol?
The drinking age is 21 and there is still so many high school kids drinking. Why cant they raise it more so they stop drinking? Is there a way to stop all of them from drinking completely?

making things illegal doesnt take away the desire for it, a great example would be prohibition, people still drank

Maybe after I turn 25 they can raise the age limit but until then 21 is good!!
drinking is filling a need, raise the age more and more people will fill that need with another substance (marijuana for example). Simple law of economics.
What we should do is address the reason that the need exists
i dont think so, they will do what they want. they dont nor their parents care. If they raised the drinking age i still think kids would drink. just like kids smoke. i talked to a nine yr old the other day that tried smoking. what the heck has this world come to?

They’re going to continue drinking because they consider it “being cool”. Kids are always going to rebel and be stupid in high school. You do know that a bunch of kids are having sex in JUNIOR high? Yeah. The world’s population only continues to get stupid. You know if the government legalized marijuana, we would have less problems with drug abuse? Look at Amsterdam. No it would not stop them. Street drugs are illegal and that doesn’t stop people. If someone really wants to do something, they will find a way to do it.
Teenagers want things that they can’t have. If they raised the age limit higher, kids would want it more. It would be a fail.

they are not going to stop. some people do things because they are not allowed. not allowed to smoke weed at any age and people do it.
Raising the drinking age just makes kids and teens want to drink even more because it’s something they know they can’t do and it makes them feel older.
I say do what they do in Europe and countries like Australia. Have a drinking age of 16 or 18 or whatever for beer and make harder alcohol only avialable for 19 or 20 year olds. That way be the time they’re old enough, they’ll be old enough to drink responsibly.

Not really… In Europe, the drinking age is far younger than here (some places even 14 years old), and the rates of alcohol abuse are significantly lower. It is not about alcohol consumption, it is about alcohol abuse.
No i believe that an illegal status is going to have very little affect on what the youth think. Look at prohibition in the 1920s; drinking did not decrease, in some ways it became more attractive because it was the “forbidden fruit”

ha ha, the legal drinking age has nothing to do with why kids drink alcohol. kids will find a way to drink, if they have friends that do.
