Question by Dark~Hatred120043289473982567543: Is it true that if you drink wine at a young age that you probably won’t be a alcoholic when you’re older?
I drank a little of alcohol when I was like 5. And my health teacher said that if you drink it when you’re young that you most likely won’t be an alcoholic when you grow up. But my sisters say that I will be an alcoholic mostly because I like the smell of it.

I’ve never heard that.
I do believe that parents teaching children regarding alcohol reduces alcoholism. And part of that teaching woudl be drinking in a responsible manner over social engagements.
(I.E: no binge drinking, no drinking alone).
That could reduce alcholism. Is that what you’re asking about?
[Edit:]
Mostly my point is, no one should convince themselfs that they are or will be immune to alchoholism. There is no sure-fire prevention.

There are studies going both ways, but overall it is a brain condition and ultimately a choice in the future, so don’t peg or not a peg as an alcohol just because of little sayings like this one.
Actually, yes. Because the principal concept is that the things that you cant get is what you want. So being that you’ve already tried it, you aren’t so crazy about it anymore. Meaning you won’t be overexcited about getting your first drink and overdrinking. So, yes.
I think theres some truth to that…
actually it’s the opposite for most people
Not at all, since REAL Alcoholics have a disease that just the taste gets it started. Liking the smell won’t make you one either, some people like the smell of coffee but can’t stand the taste. It is about how much you DRINK that makes you one.
Sort of. If you are introduced to alcohol in a family setting, you learn that it is a social lubricant and do not get drunk. It may not be cause-and-effect, though. it might be that groups using wine this way are less tolerant of drunkenness. In any event, your health teacher has a better chance of being right about this than your sisters do.
