Kids Recovering from Addiction / Educational Documentary. From the public domain. Sponsor: MCTFT Discovering that a teen is using drugs or alcohol can be a scary experience for parents – many feel alone, ashamed, guilty, and confused about what to do next. In today’s society, teens as young as 13 have often already tried drugs as powerful as cocaine or even heroin. They might tell themselves they will only try a drug once, but many teens find themselves under continual peer pressure to continue to experiment with drugs and “join the party.” The biggest consequence to casual drug use can be that it develops into a true addiction and it can happen before they realize it. Very few addicts recognize when they have crossed the line from casual use to addiction. Recovering From Addiction: The Kids’ Perspective is an hour-long broadcast of teen panelists that will discuss their addiction and recovery process. The sooner you can recognize that your child or your friend is abusing alcohol or other drugs, the sooner you can seek help. If you notice changes in behavior, changes in friends, lying about after school or weekend activities, changes in mood, or depression your teen or someone you know might have a problem with substance abuse. Also, hear from an expert in adolescent addiction and intervention. These topics among others will be discussed and will help others who are perhaps afraid or ashamed to seek help. The problem with addiction is that there are no rules as to who …

@mrtampenski Kpaow. “People” – a minority of them perhaps. What does how easy it is to make have to do with anything? And – allow me to ask an honest question – where’s your proof for your claims?
@paxcoder Lmao people do oppose it prohibition, the problem is the government can’t make real cash of marijuana because its easy to grow, unlike alcohol which is hard to make, if you mess up you will be poisoned and die.
@paxcoder it doesn’t work. keeping it illegal allows users access to much stronger stuff (heroine, cocaine, speed, k) stuff that really CAN mess you. Also it gives massive ammounts of money to drug dealers that is untaxed and unregulated. Since its unregulated the stuff they do buy could be laced with anything from dmt to pcp. All this is no bueno and good reasons for it to be legal. That and these are suburban white kids and don’t know anything about real drugs.
it didn’t work for alcohol. but you see it works for marijuana because people do not oppose its prohibition. and that’s a good thing.
this interviewer is great, such a cool demeanor about everything
look, for all i care, cigarettes should be illegal. they benefit noone.
well if you say so, it must be true.

Thats strange when you take into account that in the US with some of the strictist drug laws use continues to rise steadly and in places where they have legalized the usage rates are much less per cap. You don’t have to agree but all the evidence shows that it’s the case so I’m done arguing with you sir. These are the facts you dont have to accept them but they are true. Thank you for arguing with me I do love a good debate and it was a good one. And I’m not arguing abortion with you
I disagree. It won’t disappear, but it will be reduced. The effect on the society will be just the opposite of what you argue if it were allowed.
Also, as a side note, the “back-alley phisician” argument is weak, as the mother is killing its baby. Aside from the fact that should never be legal, if you make it safe you sacrifice the innocent child (or possibly more than one baby) in favor of the murderous mother.
Yes because its going to happen there is no way around it. It needs to be regulated not just in the hands of criminals. Prostitutes need to be regularly tested for STD’s and medical professionals should be performing abortions instead of coat hangers and back alley physicians. We need to reduce the harms to society. Making something illegal doesnt mean it goes away it just pushes it underground.
You mean just like prostitution and abortion?
First you don’t know anything about me. I don’t even drink. Second you don’t have to agree but there is no reason to lock people up for what they put into their own body it does no good and it creates massive crime, death, corruption (police & politicians) and violence around the substance that is being prohibited. We need to take the profits and substances out of the hands of these criminals who have no problem selling to children and put them into the hands of a well regulated system.
You are not doing anything good for anyone by arguing this – including yourself. You just want to legally get high. I’m not sorry that I don’t agree. There is absolutely no reason why drugs should be legalized.
Responsible use is not using to excess, not endangering others with your actions, not using in front of or when need to take care of children, not driving while intoxicated, not going to work intoxicated and generally not doing anything too stupid while intoxicated.
It is over dramatization you are obviously someone who has never had any experience with the subject either through first or second hand experiences. Sir dont lie to yourself or me you have been making conservative religious arguments since we started this not based in science at all. Having a chemical imbalance isn’t being insane. Having a mental disorder is. You can be very much insane and not have a chemical imbalance and vice versa. Thats why drugs dont work for many mental disorders.
It’s not over dramatization. Drugs are dangerous, and cause temporal chemical imbalance – ie not being sane. There is no responsible usage of drugs whose purpose is nothing but the above – they have no other usage. It’s what I was taught by the means of science. Sure my perspective on cigarettes might change if I become addicted to them, but I’m not going to. The same principle applies to drugs.
We don’t allow drunk driving because it is an irresponsible behavior that harms people. Once again the insanity is a drastic over dramatization. All things can be done in a responsible way and in an irresponsible way including drugs. You need to learn that all these beliefs you are spouting are just that beliefs. They are what you were taught to believe was good, bad, right, or wrong it doesn’t make them true and you can’t use them to judge others behaviors.
No, you don’t allow drunk driving, and you don’t allow participating in society under influence of drugs which make you temporarily insane. There is no responsible in-taking of drugs (even if it theoretically doesn’t harm other people). Drugs are just bad.
It’s not the same but it is compairable especially when you take into account that car accidents kill more people than drugs. Its not about the beneft to society once again it’s about personal freedom and personal responsibility. It’s none of your or my business what anyone else puts into their body.
That’s not nearly the same as drugs have no positive side and offer nothing to the society unlike transportation.
