My Runner Up entries into a MADD contest back in 1999. Shot on Hi-8 and edited on a straight cuts only S-VHS editor, so I had to be creative with the graphics and transitions. The Video Rating: 3 / 5
lets see 11,000 deaths a year related to drunk driving, that is terrible,so in 100 years it would add up to 1,100,000,I understand why people are upset about it,now on the other hand 1,300,000 babies are killed evry year ,that is 130,000,000 in a hunderd years, you say nothing about that?what in the world is wrong with you?come on mothers, you are very quite about that!
I honestly think in the US, the drinking age should be 16. Waaayyyyyy too many people are stupid as hell with no self control, thats why they wind up in fucking hospitals.
@billthemisogynist I’ve heard of MADD a long time ago but never experienced it first hand is a better statement.Never had any reason to go farther than the definition.Never talked about it in school.Yep, I was 2 1/2 miles from the hotel at an Applebees resturant in Wallingford Ct.I wanted to take the back roads instead of the freeway.Yes a cab even at $50,much cheaper indeed. They take dui very serious in the NewEngland States.Maybe cos of the road pop density. In Ct 3 duis and lifetime suspension
@CComb501 We need that law here in Ohio.Man,you either must have lived in the sticks or been on an island for many years. In school students are taught about MADD at a very young age(kindergarten).lol,a couple of mils from your hotel.I walk 6.8 miles a day.
@billthemisogynist In Fl if you get 4 dui’s your license is gone forever. I think jail comes with the 3rd dui 6months-1 yr or it might be 5 yr. I’d have to look. Not interested in finding out in person for real. Yes I have a problem with MADD but I wouldn’t even know what MADD was if I hadn’t experienced this.
@billthemisogynist Thanks Bill.My wife is doing OK. Yes I could have killed someone. I’ve paid the price to society and then some because I’ve had to deal with 2 Court systems and 2 DMV’s one in CT and one where I live in FL. 2 for 1 so to speak.
What I really wanted was to go straight to Hartford get on a plane and come home but I had to finish the job. $50 for a cab would have been a bargin.I was only a couple miles from the hotel. I stopped counting at $10k.Bad time to be without work.
@CComb501 Now say you was in Ohio.you can have up to 11 DUI before any charges stick with a murder of an innocents person and even then it’s a slap on the wrist, get only 5 to 10 years with an early release for good behavior.
@CComb501 Sorry to hear about your wife condition. That’s fine that you wanted to drink four beers, but you could have called a cab or walked. Now what would have happened if there was a mother &child at that stop sign you ran, they would have gotten hurt or even killed by you.If your going to drink then call a cab, a sober friend/co-worker or walk, much safer for you and the people around you.
@billthemisogynist cont. this would ruin my life. He said he could lose his job if he didn’t arrest me due to all of MADDs lobbying in New England. Needless to say I got it up the poop shoot. I pleaded with court and MADD to reconsider the interlock in my case. Not a chance.Hard to rent a car with an IID restriction so away went my job. Now people that work and pay taxes pay my unemployment, foodstamps and public assistance (that would be you) because MADD wouldn’t budge. Talk about ruined lives
@billthemisogynist Bill, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know why I have so much of a problem with MADD. I did work a traveling job. I was working in CT and live in FL. One Fri eve (8/09) my wife called me and told me she had breast cancer and a metastatic brain tumor. I went out and had 4 (.085 BAC) beers. I got lost going back to the hotel and ran a stop sign in a delsolate area, so I get pulled over and told the cop the whole story. He did all the roadside stuff and I told him
@billthemisogynist I don’t care what people do. I don’t smoke but everyone in my family does (at least the one’s that are still alive). In my 20′s I’ve smoked pounds of pot. I did until Reagon became President and declared war on drugs (pot a drug????) and I quit because all employers started random drug testing. Smoke em if you got em. I was in the Navy through the late 70′s and early 80′s. Everybody smoked.
@billthemisogynist cont: another way to fight this they are taking the easy path.Other countries don’t have the DD problems we do and they don’t have MADD.Mad is totally based on revenge and retribution and if a law or right doesn’t suit them they just get it changed. What’s next man,Gestapo and Nazi SS.Pull you out of the car a road block smell alcohol and put a bullet in the back of your head on the spot to serve as an example to other drivers. MADD scares the hell outta me.
@billthemisogynist Pls don’t misunderstand.I do believe drunk driving is insane and should be punished.People talk about their right to drink and drive.Driving isn’t a right in the first place.I have a problem with MADD because they managed to have rewritten parts of the US Constitution through pure sympathy money and mumbo jumbo.Hundreds of thousands of men fought myself also)and died(I didn’t die obviously)to preserve the constitution just the way it was. What about respect. They can find
@billthemisogynist After 4 dui in my state you are done driving legally again forever end of story it walk ride a moped or take the bus. I don’t know where you can have 11 dui’s and still be allowed to drive but I bet the insurance would be herhendous. Maybe it was along time ago.
@CComb501 Why do you have such a problem with MADD? Don’t you realize how many people die from drinking and driving?A friend of mine a year ago lost her daughter cause she was hit by a drunk and driver. The sad part the driver took off and left her there on the sidewalk in the snow three days before Christmas.Nice Christmas present for her family. The woman is still free to run the streets
@CComb501 hate to bust your bubble,my grandfather was a bootlegger got caught spent 2 years in jail and 5 years probation.Same as you would get today for drinking and driving with 11 DUI under your belt.
@billthemisogynist If you can get it on the ballet I will will back you 100%. I would even contribute to to the movement.(BTW-bootlegging is still not legal, just not as profitable to bust small time bootleggers as it is to go after drunk drivers).Prohibition was mostly a women’s movement because they got tired of their husbands getting sloshed all the time.People drink to relieve discomfort.I expect during the depression there was plenty of discomfort.People coped by making their own booze.
@billthemisogynist umm, they tried that already about 85 years ago. The revenue from the sale of alcohol is so intrinsic to the US economy now that it would bankrupt the govt. Unless you want to pay 90% of you paycheck in taxes. Whould make bootlegging profitable again though. Let’s try it.
@tatomuck18 Operative word, “can”. A loaded 357mag “can” kill.No sane person condones drunk driving but MADD has gotten way out of control here. They have law enforcement chasing drunks around all night while women are being raped and murdered, drug dealers are having a free for all. And all the cops are doing now is chasing suspected drunks? MADD has to back off or be eliminated as a means to lobby legislation.

@CComb501 Let me guess, your all for the smoking ban.

@CComb501 NO! NO bootlegging, all alcohol products illegal, period.

I say let ban all alcohol products
