There is a psychological addiction that can be brought about by smoking ridiculous amounts of the stuff all the time – keep it for the weekends and you will never get addicted – that’s what I do – speaking of which – its friday

I like how the news story starts off with heroin to invoke our emotions and them immediately switches to hashish to make that look just as bad.
“Addicted to marijuana?” Give me a fucking break. I started smoking hash and weed when I was 14 and was never addicted. I still smoke it today but I never crave it or get withdrawal symptoms.
As for blowing heroin smoke in her children’s faces… hmmm no wonder she wears that head veil. I wouldn’t want to be recognised if I did that to my kids either

When that taliban defeated the northern alliance warlords, they went to the poppy farmers, put a gun in their face and told them they have two options
1) We kill you and burn all your poppy fields
or
2) You stop growing poppy and use your farms to grow useful crops
Reports from the international narcotics control board show that during taleban rule, opium export was virtually zero coming out of afghanistan. Now after invasion and US support for nothern alliance, Afghanistan is the #1 producer

People may enjoy using marijuana or hashish and do it a lot but they are not addicted to it. Addiction is an overused word.
This proves that what the Soviet Union was trying to accomplish there would have worked good for the people. I dont know what social situation is in Afghanistan, but if everyone was guaranteed a job and the essentials for to live this type of situation would be much less likely to happen.
If the primative taliban was able to destroy the poppy plantations than with all of the abilities the US military has it should not be a problem.
