Question by seasnake: Does the church promote alcoholism and pestilence when giving sacrificial wine to children?
I added in the pestilence part as everyone drinks from the same cup which to me is a bit insane

I don’t think you should give wine to children or anything, but no. The church does not promote alcoholism.
Thanks for the rant 2 pts
My dad told me it was grape juice. Fortunately I don’t have a drinking problem <>.
Dude, in Italy, the drinking age is 12. The kids there are responsible, and occasionally have a glass of wine with dinner. The only reason it’s a problem in America at all is that it’s taboo, and therefore “cool.”
no but it dose not try to stop it in the catholic church.
It doesn’t promote either, but it’s unbiblical and it’s gross, so you are correct in that sense.
Our denomination, Reformed, teaches that no one can come to the communion table unless they have made a profession of faith. This is rarely before the teens.
Funny, 200 years ago, 15 year olds were married, held property, and were civic leaders …. we have fallen far.

Our children are taught that the blessed sacrament is the blood of Christ. It never turned me into a wineaux. Pax Christi
