Question by C-dawg: How to help meth addict who won’t go to rehab?
my cousin is a meth addict with three kids. we’re all (my family) meeting tomorrow night to discuss possibilities. We want to convince her to go to rehab since the state will take away her kids and we want HER to be sober.
Any helpful tips? hints? I’ve had experience but still, more advice on how to present help to a group of listeners would be great. THANK YOU!

lol well this could be a weak source but im ADDICTED(sorry probably not the best use of words but im to lazy to look for an alternative) to the show intervention.
Most of the times the familes mention what its been like to see that person fall, what they used to be like, and in harsher (but i have to say always effective) one saying if they continue down this lifestyle they will no longer be a part of their lives.(namely because the chances for help are right there so theres no reason not to accept it other then fear of failure. ) anyway i hope this helped a little!

Can your family take the kids instead of the state?
Unless she wants help…it wont happen, sadly! because she knows she will lose her kids, and that still wont motivate her!!! what can you possibly do?
I was addicted to meth for a couple years …. I’ve been clean from meth for about 4 years now …. It’s a long road!!
I was in it pretty hard taking it intervenusly and other ways…..
I was Ast. director of a rehab after I quit and sobered up and I have worked with alot of meth users.
In short if they don’t see they need to quit and they don’t WANT to then there’s not much you can do ……
The best thing a friend or family member can is make sure they don’t enabile them (giving them money when it’s gone, going out of YOUR way because of THIER habbit!)
You have to allow them to fall – By doing this it will help them to see thier need to give it up!!
WITH THAT BEING SAID!!!! It’s VERY important to let them know YOU LOVE THEM! You just won’t enable thier habbit.
Often times family members and or friends just walk-away but this leaves the addict feeling like they can’t get out!
They need to know you are always there, you love them, and you’ll help them when they decided to sober up ……………
NOW ——- BECAREFUL B/C they usually don’t and they steal and they lie and usually will do just about anything to find the “fix”
And stats we’re at least a couple years ago like 98% percent of ALL meth addicts will relapse in the first two years!!!
Sooo I usually don’t trust meth addicts till they beat that 2 year hump – I just let them know I am here (and I do get burned sometimes – but when one needs me I was there and they sober up and you watch them turn thier life around IT WORTH ALL THE BURNS!)
