Question by Da Austrian Oak: How would you define an alcoholic?
If you can have one drink and stop and other times you just feel like drinking until you pass out, is this just part of young adult maturity or does it mean you’re an alcoholic if you ever binge.
For instance, when I’m with a girl or my dad or my older brothers, I can have a drink or two and stop. But when I get together with certain friends, we usually end up staying at each others homes cuz it’s too dangerous to drive.
Thanks.

No an alcoholic is someone who never stops drinking breakfast , lunch and dinner and if you were one you wouldn’t care about it.

Could you go days without a drink and not miss it? Then you’re not an alcoholic. If you crave it every day, then you may be one. There is a lot written about it on the web. Here is an online test you can take.

alcoholic for me is a loser in life who finds alcohol a way to make his life “better” without caring how the people around him feel.
Well, to be honest, you don’t really sound like one, but I don’t exactly know your full situation. You could take this test, and maybe get a better idea of how damaging your habits are: http://www.recoveryconnection.org/alcoholism_test/
