Question by seeking knowledge: Is it a good idea to ween your teen from drinking by buying O’douls (non alcoholic beer) for them?
they would be less interested in experimenting in drinking. that way they are less likely to go on a drinking binge with their friends.

Well, first of all.. you said to ween your teen.. ween usually means to help them stop from doing something… so are you saying your teen is hooked on alcohol already and you would like to help them quit by buying O’douls? If thats the case, I say seek counseling.. many alcohol counselors believe the non-alcoholic beer is not good when trying to quit drinking.
Either way, O’Douls does not taste good. Busch now makes a non-alcoholic beet that tastes pretty good.. Busch NA.
If you need to ween your teen might I suggest AA.
I can’t see how that would help much – your teen is smart and won’t want to be babied.
Teens are a lot less likely to experiment with binge drinking if you adopt a casual and trusting attitude. Introduce small amounts of low alcohol beer/wine at family meals in a safe environment. They will see your sensible drinking as a role model.
In every single case I know of kids “going off the rails” with alcohol, they happened to have very strict parents who never let them access/try it and prohibited it – which only dramatically increases its allure when they inevitably go through that rebellious stage.
Are you serious? Yeah that’s it give your child more alcohol to cure them from drinking. Cause really “Weaning” a teen from alcohol is the best way to prevent liver diease, plus it makes you the coolist parent in the world. I also heard giving them a shot of whisky cures there hangovers!!! NO this kid aint addicted to simulac dummy. There are a alcoholic. They need serious help. Obvioulsy there are issues at home if your teen is drinking. Parent advice from a mom, #1 get rid of the friends they are drinking with #2 ground them for life #3 call your peditrican or PCP get refered to some kind of couciling or drug and alcohol abuse program. #4 be there more for your child, no where they are at all times, and be less of a friend and more of a parent. #5 Get family counciling immediatly, there are issues in your home. and in the end, O’douls does contain a small amount of alcohol read the label. If they have already been abusing alcohol then there is already irreversable damage to theit liver. Please get your child help. You can not wean your teen of drugs or alcohol, that is dumb.. You “wean” a infant from the breast and I highly doubt your breast has Corona in it? Oh and by the way buying your teen alcohol or Odouls is AGAINST THE LAW.. I F IT WEREN’T THEY COULD BUY IT THEMSELVES. THESE LAWS ARE SET FOR A REASON!! NOW TRY INFORCING THEM. BE A PARENT NOT A FRIEND..
I dont think it would help, teens dont want to drink for the taste, they want to drink for the effect. I sort of agree with the more casual attitude making it less alluring, and more likely that they will be responsible.
