Give a sip of alcohol? What’s next. Letting them drive? Letting them have sex?

If the parents supervise it then it can be beneficial in that it teaches responsibility and moderation.
Only if the parents approve (and that means you ask BEFORE giving the kids a sip, not after)
my mom lets me have a little shot of vodka at some parties
Don’t give the kids alcohol. That’s child abuse. If the parents are agreeing to serving the kids alcohol, that’s when you should stop serving the adults alcohol too — they’ve drunk so much their judgment is out of whack.
yeah its ok.
nah.
i wouldn’t.
it should be up to the parents, not the government
just ONE sip to see DISGUSTING it is
My parents gave us sips of wine but we grew up in France where wine is a beverage, not something to get drunk on. Children commonly drink it and the average drinking age in Europe is 12. Unlike 21 here.
sure even stealing the rest and drinking it yourself after they pass out
Never Should Happen…..WHY Would You….??
they do that in other countries, so my parents let me.
I myself did not let them till they were about 18,
now we have a ball at 27 and 33 they are old enough now, lol
Sure. The kids are in a safe environment, so I guess it’s fine.
Yeah why not? A sip isn’t going to kill the kid. Some countries don’t have drinking age limits.
i agree with we wuv woo Christmas so that’s a MAJOR NO
The answer is NO.
What if the kid turns out to be allergic?
What if it’s not really the parent (happens sometimes)?
It’s better not to serve alcohol around children, imo. That way, the issue doesn’t even come up.
my mom does i think if the kid is responsible then its fine. i nevr drink, i just taste what my mom has
it should b ok.
It’s up to the parents. When I become a mother, I won’t do it because you’re basically telling them: “here, try it, it’s okay to drink it”. Obviously Kids have curiosity and will most likely accept. It sets a unstable support for them in the future.
ok.. am parents usually let me have a SIP of their alcoholic beverage.. i never like it..
It’s not my call, it’s up to that parent. I say if they are at least a teenager then whatever but don’t let me see someone giving it to a 7 yr old. When I was 15 my Mom let me have 1 glass of merlot on Christmas eve. It was my 1st drink and I guess it’s better to try at home where you are safe than out at some boy’s house.
My opinion is ‘no’. The kids are still young–they might start thinking it’s a game, or they can brag about it to friends who will want to do it too–the list goes on and on.
The kids still may really want to have ‘just a sip! I just wanna try it!’ but rules are rules. No breaking them just because your kids want ‘a taste’. Things can seriously get out of control.
Depends on how old they are and the occasion.
If it’s a party with like a bunch of kids and limited adults? Absolutely not. I would never condone or encourage another person’s child to drink alcohol in my home without them present and their permission.
But if me and my 17 year old son were at a wedding, yes of course he can engage in the champagne toast.
I recall my Mom giving me sips of her beer and I loved it. I drink it every now and then but I prefer mixed drinks. Anyways, I say a sip is ok. Singular.
yes, because in my seventeen magazine they conducted a survey and children that occasionally drink throughout their adolesence have a lesser chance of overdosing and getting wasted when they are older.
