Question by Brian: Beer and other alcoholic beverages, Would you make them illegal if you could?
I have drank my share of alcoholic drinks in my younger years. I have never had any issues or problems with it, but I have seen so may that do. As I have gotten a little older (34)and had kids I have chosen not to drink or have it around our house. It seems that drinking increases the chances something bad is going to happen by about 100%. I am a liberal at heat but if I could I guess I would do away with this drug. How do others feel about this issue?

Best answer:

Answer by May
I dont think it should be illegal, I think that as long as you can balance your life then you’re fine. I know some ppl who let it control them, instead of them controlling it. I guess its all a matter of knowing your limit and being smart about it.

How can you politely decline and withstand the pressure to drink?
What do such drinks symbolise that makes those who refuse it feel like outcasts despite health and other effects such as the risk of driving wrecklessly and out of control?

Best answer:

Answer by Animalluv
its considered “cool” to be a rebel. this means that possibly dying can be cool, as long as its against the law. it IS really stupid, and you can politely decline just by saying, “no thanks, im good”. and if they wont listen, and keep persisting, just say, “no thank you” over and over again and if they wont let it drop say it one more time and then quickly excuse yourself to the bathroom and once out of their sight, talk to someone else.

Question by paydog23: When do kids typically start drinking alcoholic beverages?
Hey guys, I was wondering when kids start drinking alcoholic beverages? I don’t drink and I’ve never been a big partier, so I guess was unaware of all the drinking and drug abuse that went on at my high school. It was only in the months before I graduated that I realized how widespread getting drunk and getting high really was. So what I’m wondering is, at what age do kids generally transition from having parties with cake, soda and pizza, to ones with alcohol and weed?

I realize there’s no set answer, so I would appreciate if you could give me your first time? When was the first time you either got drunk or went to a party where people were getting drunk? Thanks guys!

Best answer:

Answer by Snoopy
usually sophomore or Junior year either in college or high school depending on the person

Question by ajsaxton: Is prohibition against any and all alcoholic beverages for young people the best way to prevent alcohol abuse?
No. This indirectly encourages abuse by making drinking appear to be a mark of maturity or an initiation into adulthood.

Best answer:

Answer by Andre’ F
No, because the more you keep telling someone they can not do something, the more they are going to get curious as to the why. I say try to be honest and explain to them what it is all about. Take the person to an area and let them witness what they will become. To put it mildly prohibition may actually encourage alcoholism because of a miss-communication on a bad day that may lead to wait till I get older. Although, some people never look at it that way.

I read in Europe they give alcoholic beverages to children? Will that kill their brains? How much is ok to give them?

Best answer:

Answer by mintyminions
It’s usually wine, and they water it down for the kids. A few ounces during special dinners won’t hurt them at all, especially if it’s watered down. Most kids won’t like the taste of beer or mixed drinks- unless the mixed drinks have very little alcohol in them.
