Question by Kay: How can I find Alateen/other teen support groups?
I am in desperate need of friends, and Im looking for meetings for teens. (alateen wwas an idea because my mom usedto be an alcoholic).
I have already looked up all the alanon websites so dont suggest them.
I’d especialy like to find a support group 4 teens with depression/anxiety…. but nything will do at this point :(

I think you should speak with social services. Don’t you think it would be better for the children to be with a foster family for a short time then to be living in a drug rehab?

You need to focus on yourself right now. (or she does)

I see no reason why you would lose your children if you were seeking out help.

Its very unfortunate my sister is addicted to drugs. I think her drugs of choice is herion, cocaine, alchohol, pain meds & possibly meth. We first want to gather our loved ones and do a family intervention that includes consequences. The problem is she doesnt have medical insurance to pay for rehab. We need to get her professional help as a final option. If she chooses not to get help then she will suffer the consequences. We just dont have the resources to provide that final option for her. If you’ve seen the TV show on A&E “Intervention”, this is the direction on how we want to confront her issues. We dont want to contact A&E becuase we are concerned about the after affects it might have on her 3 kids years to come. We try to conceal the problem from the kids as much as she tries to sneak around pretending shes not using. We just dont know……….we are lost!! If there is any free help out there that someone may know of please let me know. Thank You!

Call your court house and see if you can get a judge to sign an order for rehab for her before you do the intervention. You don’t need a lawyer for that, and if a judge will sign the papers, it will be up to the courts to pay the bill.

We’ve recently just moved here. I’m not familiar with the place yet. I just really need to find a drug rehab for my daughter. A good thing you can do is to find a hospital in your vicinity and get her checked up by a doctor. That way, the doctor can assess her current situation and tell you what kind of treatment program will be good for her and which drug rehab will be able to provide her with this kind of program. The links below have lists of drug rehabs too. You can check them out.

You don’t have to blame yourself that your daughter did this. It’s not because you did not raise her well. It’s just that people make mistakes. They falter, and your daughter did. Just make sure to give her your support and understanding now. She really needs it and it would help her recover quicker. I hope she gets treated soon.

My brother, as well as his wife, are both addicted to heroin. They really need to get themselves treated. I feel sorry for their kids. It would be good if they could go to a doctor. The doctor will be able to assess the gravity of their situation, as well as give recommendations on what kind of treatment program would be right for them, and which drug rehab will be able to administer that program to them.
