Question by Kate G: Should young children have contact with a severely alcoholic parent?
The other parent has been out of the house since our kids were newborn, 2yo & 4yo. Visitation was semi-regular the first year because I provided transportation, etc. Once divorce was final, ex refused to follow judges orders regarding treatment (parenting class, AA meetings, supervised visitation including sobriety piss-test).
Now our children are 6, 8 & 10. They’ve only heard from ex sporadically-a total of 3 times in 5 years. Now they’re asking me to find my ex so they can have visitation.
At what age do children have the right to choose for themselves? Or is it okay that I still protect them?

Best answer:

Answer by Tony M
No contact at all.

Question by :]]] lalalawoo!: What is the name of a book that a young mute girl who gets kidnapped by her alcoholic father?
I’m trying to remember the title of a book that I read a few years ago, and I only remember a few things from the book. I remember that the girl is mute because she’s traumatized by something her father did when she was little because he was a drunky, and she now refuses to talk. She woke up around 6 in the morning and walked out to, I think, meet her friend. Her father was on the porch, and made her walk out a bit in their field where he tried to make her speak, but she got so scared, she peed her pants. Then, her father took her into the woods, and her little friend followed. After her friend followed, her friend either tripped, or got murdered, and the mute girls brother found the little girls body later. I also remember that the mother of the mute girl met her alcoholic husband at the gas station where she worked, and he swooned her, and stuff. Then at the end of the story, the brother finds the mute girl and the father, and the father tries to kill the brother, then a police man comes on an atv and helps save the brother. and they ride down, and i think they capture the husband. The family of the little girls mute friends, however realize that the other girl was killed, and they fall apart. I don’t remember anymore, and I tried googling it, but nothing came up. Does anyone know what I’m talking about?

Answer by tiandron
The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf
“It happens quietly one August morning. As dawn’s shimmering light drenches the humid Iowa air, two families awaken to find their little girls have gone missing in the night.

Seven-year-old Calli Clark is sweet, gentle, a dreamer who suffers from selective mutism brought on by tragedy that pulled her deep into silence as a toddler.

Calli’s mother, Antonia, tried to be the best mother she could within the confines of marriage to a mostly absent, often angry husband. Now, though she denies that her husband could be involved in the possible abductions, she fears her decision to stay in her marriage has cost her more than her daughter’s voice.

Petra Gregory is Calli’s best friend, her soul mate and her voice. But neither Petra nor Calli has been heard from since their disappearance was discovered. Desperate to find his child, Martin Gregory is forced to confront a side of himself he did not know existed beneath his intellectual, professorial demeanor”

Best answer:

Answer by Lakers Rock
I think it means that you suffered a very trumatic experience and you should seek out some help honey. If your dreams are accurate it looks like your mother had knowledge of what was happening to you and thats not uncommon.

Question by AJ: How bizarre would it be for a young male to order a non-alcoholic drink in a club?
I am going to go to some lounges and martini bars during my week off from work to hopefully FINALLY find a freakin date. I am just wondering if it will be a problem if I don’t drink any alcohol while I’m there. Will Women think less of me if I stay sober?

Before you tell me not to go to bars to meet women, hear me out (I get so tired of writing this). I LIVE IN A CITY WITH A VERY SMALL NUMBER OF YOUNG WOMEN ( THE MAJORITY OF OUR POPULATION IS ELDERLY), CLUBS ARE THE ONLY PLACE I CAN PHYSICALLY LOCATE A WOMAN MY AGE! Please don’t answer if that is all you are going to say.

Best answer:

Answer by theartisttwin
There is nothing wrong with meeting women in a club and it is not only OK not to drink it is great! I would find that appealing in a guy.

Question by : Do all young liberals aspire to be as great as Nancy Pelosi and Ted Kennedy?
Pelosi got rich off her husbands money, he’s an ambulance chaser attorney and MOB lawyer. Pelosi is now so obsessed with vanity and so deeply insecure, that she’s addicted to Botox and plastic surgery.

Kennedy was born rich, and never worked a day in his life, was an alcoholic and a murderer.

Are these liberal “success” stories of inheriting and gold digging, real accomplishments that young liberals aspire to?

Question by Yoda Uni Student: Why make such a fuss over YOUNG ie early 20s not late 60s teachers reltionships with late teen students?
Why make such a fuss over YOUNG ie early 20s not late 60s teachers reltionships with late teen students?

Those in late teens readily date those in early 20s, hang out go to nightclubs nd parties and have the same interests, often meeting on part time jobs and in most cases nothign abusive about it just a happy couple so taking ages of around 17 and 23, 16 and 21 etc.

If the couple are happy and care for each other.

And NO not talking about me or anyone I know.

Whats the problem…

logic

Better daughter (as girl dating older guy is more common) dates some responsible guy with nice job who is caring and educated…

Then some knife and gun weilding yob/chav/redneck gang thug mugger junkie, binge drinking scumbag who never uses condoms, has no education, always in crime, beats up girlfriends and cheats who is the same age.

& if they dont have much in common well they separate naturally.

And no just as somone is older does not mean their intentions are mean… people date as like each other and your average 16-18 year old aint innocent.

For there to be a crime there needs to be a victim somone forced to do things they dont want or getting hurt.

No hurt, no victim no crime.

The only issue I see is unfair marking…

Ie good grades for being in love or naughty

bad grades if split up.

So simply solution for principle/head teacher… swap classes if a relationship like this occurs so somone else doing marking
*************

Why no logic zorro

Its pretty simple its saying those in late teens and early twenties normally date and fall in love… why should eithers job have any bearing on it

be they techer and student, doctor and patient, afro caribean and white, montague or capulate etc.

And surely its better for daughter… logic here to date nice guys with nice job then criminal junkie thug?
What makes no sense here.

Your rational please.

As writing this makes no sense…. makes no sense as no reasoning.

And as for the why dont teacher find another girlfriend well mabe as his girlfriend dont want himto you know happy couple etc.,

To handle sexaul harrasment Im saying get it out into the open maybe getting both to sign papers that its consentual and separating them so he aint teaching her
rubicon quote

there is a huge difference in a 17/18 year old still in high school and a 22/23 year old teacher that has been through college. There is a large amount of life experience in those short years that change a persons outlook on life.

What experience? a few more parties and uni… people dont change at 17

They want to get laid, party, drive cool cars, check out the opposite sex, play with computer games, hang out with mates, fall in love, cuddle, snuggle, get some money and have fun

at 23

They want to get laid, party, drive cool cars, check out the opposite sex, play with computer games, hang out with mates, fall in love, cuddle, snuggle, get some money and have fun

Its just now they have a job so can afford to but less time. And Many of their mates are coupled up and turned boring so dont want to come out any more so need young mates and girl/boyfriends to go out and have fun with.

What other experience is there?

Best answer:

Answer by Zorro
you had absolutely no right to use the word “logic” anywhere in there.
