The abuse of prescription drugs is quickly becoming an epidemic. They’re easy to get and simple to distribute. Gone are the days when people need to go to a seedy street corner to get high. Now, they just need to go to a medicine cabinet or visit the doctor. While many communities are just beginning to figure out how to handle this legal drug problem, anti-drug groups in Tennessee have had a head start. For years, Tennessee held the unwanted distinction as the nations top state for prescription drug abuse. That is changing, thanks to hard work and cooperation. The people from Tennessee will share their experiences during this hour-long MCTFT broadcast. There will be no expert panel discussion, just advice from the people in the field. Learn how citizens in Tennessee discovered the problem and took control. Hear from coalition leaders, law enforcement, doctors, pharmacists, insurance executives, and others. See what they did so you can bring it into your own communities. Learning Objectives: See how anti-drug groups in Tennessee discovered the prescription drug problem Find out how cooperation is making a difference Learn what law enforcement officers are seeing and how they are adapting to the new drug problems Hear how health care providers are trying to protect themselves and their patients From the public domain, courtesy of the Multijurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force Training (MCTFT)

@suicidesucks08 You shouldn’t be allowed on a computer. You are a little troll.
Go after the drug mills and internet sales on drugs. Stop punishing people in need of medication for chronic pain. I take my medication as directed and have never looked for illegal drugs. I have to abide by a pain contract and though I have no problem with that. I am sorry for those that have lost loved ones to drugs, but it is the user’s responsibility. Teach your children well and never leave your precriptions where kids can get a hold of them.
@ZandriaClark Sorry, you have no idea what you are talking about.
doctors push prescription drugs on us. i believe from my own personal experiences the problem starts with doctors.
Dem People taken dem peeeeeeeeeeeeeels Duh. Oh I love you stupid hicks.
@ZarathustrasCrown if used while awake to treat anxiety especially in high doses it’s extremely addicting. if used in the way you describe, clonazepam is a very effective drug that helps in radical ways. however once abused (2 or more milligrams to get high on average) it harms more than helps.
The person who holds the perscription usually isn’t the one that dies. Those pills are sold as a way for the poor to make extra money to live upon. Someone takes theirs and buy more and more from someone else. I’m not saying it’s right but that’s what’s happening. I’ve seen people take 8 Loritab at once.
I found the CURE for addiction and I have proof for this claim. Click on my name and witness Powerful Stories of Freedom. I personally know and have witnessed over 100 addicts who have found True and Lasting FREEDOM after being enslaved by their addictions for so long. I have been through many programs for my addiction, but have never found so much Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love than I have in the program I am in now. And the people I know who have given their stories are experiencing the same!
@TheSC001 dont bother with that guy “suicidesucks08″…he is a brainless fool….brainless fools dont listern.
@Lizardmanification
“is there any pill to prevent americans from being so retarded ??”
Because prescription drug abuse is a uniquely American problem?
@ZarathustrasCrown
I understand you having doubts, I had them as well when I heard it.
As to the source of the information I’m taking a stab in the dark in saying that it originated from CBC radio. We were in the car and it was being discussed on a panel program and as we only really listen to two stations it would have been CBC or Radio 800 (Windsor) but the latter only carried syndicated talk shows, not panel shows. I’d be happy to try to properly reference it for you if you need the info.
@lesterclaypool1 I have my doubts…the pain relieving properties of opiates/opioids are inseparably connected to the high, the pain relief and the euphoric high are both the results of activity in the exact same center of the brain, so to remove one would automatically remove the other as well…where did you hear about it out of curiosity? I’m not saying you didn’t hear that, I just don’t think that would work pharmacologically and neurologically…
@doston1 Are you epileptic per chance? I’ve used Clonazepam for years to help me sleep and I can go for months taking it every day and then run out and not take it for weeks and never even noticed discomfort let alone symptoms like you’re describing…
is there any pill to prevent americans from being so retarded ??
@suicidesucks08 You can insult people all you want but the facts still remain that there are many dangers of using and abusing drugs. Its all about balance my friend, and finding healthier ways of coping with your problems.
13:20 DAMN Fentanyl isn’t something to fuck with 100 times more potent then morphine by weight that’s sad poor kid.
@ubersmithey24
Someone may have already helped you out with this, but just pause it for a few seconds and play it again. The sound was messed up for me to, but that ended up working.
@doston1 Thanks for posting. Currently have that issus. Prescribed 2mg klonopin and have been on it for months for major panic attacks after 5bypass open heart surgery in ’05. Been taking as directed and trying to taper very slowly w/Dr.’s help for whatever that’s worth. Feel free to email me at … tracys.dad@hotmail.com … Stephen in Georgia
Yeah and try stopping a benzo after you’ve been taking it only a short time. Like some kind of nightmare withdraw symptoms. Had to be taken to the emergency room with seizures. Then had to taper slowly on a medical withdraw program. Was the most stressful thing I’ve had to deal with so far. How is that different from crack or anything else now? And that junk is for anxiety?? I’d never look down on anyone with a drug problem now.
my problem wasnt abusing it, it was when i was well enough to be took of the meds that i had a problem.
@TranshumanCyborg what’s that?
@ubersmithey24 – thank you, I will check into it. regards…
@rosaryfilms Hi Rosaryfilms, Is there any way to fix the sound? It starts to get all weird around minute 8. I would love to finish watching this. I am writing an article on drug abuse and would like to see what you say about it.

Love the video! Unfortunately the sound starts having issues around minute 8. Is there something you can do to fix this so I can watch the rest of it? I would like to watch it because I am writing an article on prescription drug abuse.
