Question by Patriot for revolution: Why should anyone support the government anymore?
Everyday I see politicians involved in scandals, political candidates changing there stances to better chances for the job, government abuses of funds, power and our laws. I see this on a local and federal level as I am sure many do. The justice department at times seems a failure when I see a child molester get 1 year jail time and kid who had some ecstasy get 15 years (both true.) This war is not for me and is not my war. I recieve no government compensation for anything even though I pay taxes to fund all the above. The legislation is seems to hardly ever be on board with the needs of the people and the President is in a category all his own. His would-be replacement all scramble to take the best stances to get the votes even if they really don’t care, it gets them the votes.
That is how I feel, I am not unamerican or anti government so you don’t need to write that I am, I am sure some one will.
With all this going on why should anyone support this government. Benefits?

Well it’s not quite as simple as you say. While I understand your frustration and even agree w/ some of it, I would ask – what would you have us do? I mean sure we can protest and voice our views, but I don’t think taking the actions some of the more radical groups suggest such as impeachment or overthrowing the government would provide any real solution.
This is an unfortunate by-product of our governmental system. We vote someone in office to then make decisions for us. However they have to deal w/ the desires and egos of their fellow politicians, so we end up w/ a bunch of half-baked compromises.
I agree w/ your assessment of the judicial system, it is definitely broken. But until the people demand a change, it won’t. But you have to remember that the judicial system runs mostly at the state and local level, so you really can’t blame the federal government for this.
To say you don’t receive any compensation from you taxes is untrue. You taxes pay for highways, health care, medical research and a whole slew of other things. I think a more correct statement would be that you don’t get your money’s worth.
The bottom line is that while it may not be perfect, it is OUR government and we need to support it as best we can. To paraphrase an old idiom:
They may be a bunch of A**holes, but they’r e OUR A**holes!

If people would quit treating the elections as a popularity contest and really research the candidates we would all be better off.
Pick another country, any country…..and MOVE!
Move to Mexico and reconsider your question
I share ur frustration. And in surveying all the problems we have because of these immoral and unethical political leaders who are the main source of most of our problems, it may be necessary to dissolve this government for severe and unresolvable abuses. But be aware, that it would be the worst upheaval the United States has ever experienced, and civil war would be a high probability.
We need to support this government because while there are problems with our politicians WE still have the power to vote them out. People need to understand the issues and no longer tolerate criminal behavior from them. Nancy Pelosi should be on trial, along with Murtha, Fienstien, and Clinton for their criminal acts. Until we demand better out of them, we will continue to get this type of politician. We have the power to change this, its all up to us.
It is as much Joe American Nobody’s fault as the government’s.
Participation by voting for either Democrat or Republican has tarnished this once great country.
It’s the same party people — It has been since Woodrow Wilson.
They stopped working for US (the people) and started working for the bank.
To continue to do something over and over again — expecting a different result is a sign of insanity. I don’t think we’re an insane country. Borderline retarded maybe but not insane — more misinformed.
The first and most obvious benefit for you is that you got to write this letter expressing your frustration without having to fear any repercussions for having criticized what needs attention. Politicians are just people like the rest of us – some good, some bad – and their motivations are key to how they perform. Many of those who enter politics with idealistic goals that they actually try to innovate become targets of those who don’t want any interference with the status quo. I’ve lost a son to a war that had no meaning to me or mine, and its outcome proved nothing. Just as this war will prove costly to this and following generations and will enrich only the warmongers.
We support the government nevertheless because the alternative is anarchy. No government. Critics have always been heard in every government, but the critics who matter are those who bring new ideas and workable alternatives and work to get them in place.. Why not try in some small way to make a difference yourself. You could if you tried.
Unfortunately you have no choice! That is the bold reality of it all. It is not “the Gov” so to speak as it it people scattered throughout. I say if you really want to make a difference run for some sort of office–start at your local level and work your way up–who knows maybe you could be the President one day and fix it all! Not likely you say? You never know. Or you could become a missionary…The best thing to do is be a “Better you” Be the best you….No seriously, because this will never change. Fix and help what you encounter daily (the things you can affect)…like family, friends, children you have, neighbors, help out at a local church, feed the hungry in your community, don’t commit crimes….just some ideas
