Question by Lipstick on pitbull: Why wasn’t an issue made of George W. Bush’s cocaine and alcohol abuse in his pre-campaign days?
But much is being made about Sen. Obama’s drug use in his youth. George Bush refused to make a detailed statement prior to election and said if the voters didn’t like it, they could find someone else to vote for. Also how is it that Sen. McCain is consistently ranked among the richest senators and lives a lavish lifestyle (thanks
–in part– to Cindy, but he isn’t called an “elitist.”

I meant no big deal was made of it because he was elected although he was arrogant enough to say if voters didn’t like it they could vote for someone else. What men do in their youth doesn’t mean the behavior will continue. Dave Holman, I read it in the President’s Medical History. All of you need to look up “elitist”. None of you describe it.

Some tried to make it an issue but the response was no response. McCain is an elitist and he is a celebrity. He’s also a dirty campaigner.
Could be because he’s not black. Sorry to use the race card. Fold em’ !!
Well,if drugs bother you, then you definitely shouldn’t vote for Obama.
His Dad used to run the CIA. They know where all the bodies are buried, or will be.
Soooo true.
That freaking idiot go away with practically everything.
But as you can tell, anti-obama people are claiming that other sources are issues, when really they are closet racist. What a bunch of bitter loatsome people.
did he write a book about it.
The press was too busy chasing down McCain’s illegitimate black child that you never see anymore.
Is she hid?
Is McCain ashamed of her?
It was made a deal of. And even the second run, when there was reams of documentation that he’s a dry drunk, they swiftboated this clown into office to continue America’s march toward insolvency and global moral shame. Typical neocons. “We have no ideas, but let’s stay in power no matter what.”
Because Bush rules and is significantly more intelligent. Exempt.
Just continue your reading and keep it to yourself. We have already too many “smart” people who support the imbecile O Bamba.
Now, how stupid is this question?
How is it that you know about Bush’s drinking, and maybe cocaine use? Did you witness it yourself? Or was it reported in the Media, during his Presidential Campaign? Obviously it WAS an issue, else you would not be able to talk about it now. Please, Liberals, try to THINK for a second before you spew nonsense.
And “Elitist” does NOT describe people with money. It describes people who think they are better than others, i.e. those who trash others to make themselves feel better.
EDIT: Here is the definition of “elitism”, notice is has to do with ones PERCEPTION of one’s own SUPERIORITY.
e·lit·ism or é·lit·ism (-ltzm, -l-)
n.
1. The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.
2.
a. The sense of entitlement enjoyed by such a group or class.
b. Control, rule, or domination by such a group or class.
Insanity is doing the same thing over (and over) again and expecting a different result.
Maybe we should consider giving Bush the benefit of the doubt a warning NOT to do it again w/ Obama.
I may have missed it, but I haven’t heard any elitist statements from McCain (unlike Obama)
I don’t see that much being said about Obama’s use of drugs and alcohol.
Secondly, I do remember 8 yrs. ago it was brought up a little in the campaign.
Third: and most important GWB isn’t running for anything.
Fourth: I am glad you added “thanks in part to Cindy” She is the McCain wealth it’s actually her family wealth from the distributorship they own. And, although I am likely to vote for him he IS an elitist but he has been there and done that so with age does come experience.
Democrats really believed that ppl would see him and just to listen to him, we actually thought “YOU MAY THINK HE IS ONE OF YOU BUT PICK HIM AS A PRESIDENT”.
We thought Americans had better sense than that and we didn’t have to.
There was an issue made of it.
You have posed very good questions here, my friend. Questions that will probably only get you an anti-Obama rant or a name calling. A star for you.
I guess you weren’t paying attention.
There was quite a big deal made about it. Dems tried to used Bushes alcoholism as a sign of weakness and said, “The pressure of the office will probably cause him to fall off the wagon.”
The reason Sen McCain isn’t called an elitist is because he doesn’t separate himself from the little people. He doesn’t call the people in the middle of the country bitter and clinging to God and guns.
Polls show that over 90% of African Americans are planning on voting for Obama, and yet no one calls them “racist”. I would vote for Obama in a heartbeat if he were a conservative, pro-life Republican. He isn’t, so I’m stuck with McCain. For me race does not determine my vote, but apparently for many African Americans it does.
Because of who they are.
George W. Bush promised to bring everyone across the aisle and the country together–we know the results.
John McCain called a hero–perhaps those who think so should refer to any reference book to obtain the definition for hero.
Well, if you want the unbiased, non-party related answer:
it is because Obama is getting much more media attention, and with media attention comes media snooping, so of course when the media gets bored with the normal is he muslim? is he underqualified? gigs, then they go back to anything else interesting.
And then for a party based answer:
McCain, who has made some mistakes in the campaign (sitting on his *** after winning, the hilton ad) needs some leverage on Obama, so what better than to compare histories, war vet, stoner, etc.
Because Butt Holes targets only who they wants to target !!!!!
His mommy and daddy paid the press and media to keep it out. That’s my guess.
Last time I checked, a big deal was made about it. A big deal was also made about his out-of-control daughter as well.
Mainly because Bush didn’t have an ex-gay lover all over you tube praying he doesn’t get killed. The bj thing is funny.
Elites look down their nose at those that they don’t agree with or understand. I’ve never heard McCain tell us how we should be ashamed of ourselves because we can’t speak spanish.
