No, spanking makes them boot black tar heroin. If you want them to be alcoholics you have to stop hugging them.
No spanking causes leprosy. If you want them to be an alcoholic you have to make them do the dishes after dinner. I thought everyone knew this…
I was spanked as a child and I actually hate the taste of alcohol. I drink maybe once a year to remind myself why I hate the taste and go, “oh yeah….cause it’s nasty” So no, the two are not correlated, lol
it depends on the parents,i have been spanked when i was younger, and trust me it was not fun and yet i’m not an alcoholic
…no
Well, I got spanked and I ended up an alcoholic.
…but you know, it might have been those nights where I downed 3 bottles of scotch while I did my geometry homework that did me in. Not sure.
I feel like there’s a line between spanking and abuse that’s crossed all too frequently. Appropriate discipline is a necessity, but if that line is crossed, individuals frequently exposed to abuse early in development are not unlikely to continue abusive patterns through adulthood, in at least some shape or form. Aren’t there better ways to get your point across to your children, anyway?
Spanking or not spanking really can’t determine something like that. But I would say that if you discipline consistently (and that does not have to be spanking) and raise your child with morals, then there would be a lower chance of them becoming alcoholics or having some other kind of problem. And, if you aren’t involved in their lives at all, never discipline, and never spend time together or show them love, or if you mistreat them or neglect them, then there will be a higher chance of them being screwed up later in life.
