Question by Ellen: Would you let your child do weed or cocaine, yes or no?
Studies show both are less damaging and addictive than alcohol. Most parents would let their children drink socially if they are of age, but most probably wouldn’t want them doing weed or cocaine. Is there a double standard?

Cocaine is more damaging you fool. Lol There is no study that says doing coke is better than drinking a beer. No way would I ALLOW THAT.

these questions are so dumb… if my kid is doing excessive amounts of mustard than it a problem… if they are singing too much… idk… mellacamp… than its a problem… if they work too much… than its a problem… thigns are only a problem if they takle over their life…
i’m finding it hard to believe that cocaine is worse than alcohol.
Now really. Less damaging? Than what? A bump of cocaine may indeed be “better” for your child than a case of ice house but that’s ratio, not content.
That’d be a HECK to the NO.
Why? Because alcohol, weed and cocaine all have a common factor: They are all addictive and cocaine IS more damaging than a beer!
I’d prefer my kids do none of those things, but if they chose to drink modestly then I will not say anything because alcohol consumption in reasonable amounts is still legal.
I have no idea about the effexts of cocaine.
But weed – I wouldn’t ‘let’ them, but if I found out they did I wouldn’t do my nut, I couldn’t care less, as long as they weren’t doing it every day.
We r a drug and alcohol free home. So no for me. My husband drinks a beer once in a very long while. My entire family are into every drug imaginable me and my two brothers r the only ones on my dads side that dont drink or do drugs and that is something i plan on passing to my kids. What kind of parent would let their kids try is plain out stupid
I’d take all the fun out of it.
Cocaine is far from being considered “less damaging” – it is highly addictive – most people wouldn’t stand a chance resisting it. Weed and alcohol are that damaging only for those that have a genetic susceptibility or a need to self medicate.
If they’re a child then no.
When they’re adults you can’t stop them.
I understand lumping weed and alcohol together but I don’t see where coke fits in. You might want to reread those studies.
I know plenty of people that drink or smoke that don’t blow their whole paychecks on it.
I haven’t met a single person doing coke that doesn’t spend every last dollar they have on it.
Which is worse?
Nope, studies don’t say that. In fact they say the exact opposite, that drugs are MORE dangerous than alcohol.
I think that you may be referring to a resent European study saying that alcohol has done more harm in Britain than drugs. However, if you actually read the study you will find out that the reason for this is that a lot more people are drinking than are taking drugs.
If you have you take 100 drunks, and 100 junkie and chart the harm that they do to themselves and to other people you will see that the junkies do a lot more harm due to the amount of crime tat they commit in order to get their next fix.
Britain has a particularly big problem with drunkenness as the last government had a policy of removing the idea of personal responsibility from society, which lead to lots of kids growing up to believe that it was socially acceptable for them to get hammered 3 nights a week and to throw up in the gutter.
The study found drink to be more of a problem as more people were abusing it than drugs.
But to answer your question directly, if I caught one of my children taking drugs I would tan their backside till it glowed, and I’d send them to live with an aunt in a remote Chinese village without electricity, and where rats bite you at night, for 6 months, till they appreciated what they had.
Drugs are for loosers.
I would do everything in my power to discourage the the use of any substance that left them altered. My family has been devastated by the use and abuse of a variety of both legal and illegal substances by my sister.
I am smoking weed throughout this pregnancy since my last child turned out very smart and I did the same with him. When my kids are 15, they may try weed and will be allowed to smoke it once or twice on weekends. when they are 18, they can do whatever they want. hopefully i will have raised them right not to smoke cocaine or snort it. i also will teach my kid about the bad effects of alcohol. neither me or hubby drink though…
I wouldn’t allow my kids to do weed, cocaine, or drink alcohol. Your argument for many is kind of weak because personally I don’t care what anything is over alcohol because thats not allowable either. And yes weed is less damaging then alcohol but from all the studies I have seen cocaine is not.
I don’t know what study says cocaine is less harmful than alcohol,I’m very skeptical of that.Pot yes, that’s been proven, but coke?I wouldn’t be lenient with that.
your statements are not correct a drug is a drug in it’s self does damage , even aspirin is dangerous can rip the lining of your stomach . the rest is just your opinion.
